Lorena’s research focuses on the macro evolution of environmental and morphological drivers in colour and song complexity within a tropical passerine family called Thraupidae--also commonly referred to as tanagers. This project is being done through a metadata analysis from previously published papers and other publicly available databases.
Secondly, she is working on a colour analysis of the tail feathers from an insectivorous bird called the Grey Fantail (Rhipidura albiscapa). This species is immensely understudied; therefore, this project is designed to be a descriptive study to better understand the significance of signals being produced due to the variation in black and white colour found on its tail.
